Cartoon Legends: Randy Marsh

Next up is 'Hey Arnold'!

Cartoon Legends 1 : South Park, Randy Marsh

For the first of my 'Cartoon Legends' I am going to work on 'South Park' and the character I've chosen is Randy Marsh, to me he is the best character on the program. Just everything about his character is hillarious!

These are all re-worked images (and a bit of fun) from the main programs and all copyright is with Fox and the team that make South Park

Victor Animation Studio Title Sequence

A short, simple title sequence created for Victor Animation Studio

(For some weird reason the animation is all squashed!?)

(Click on 'HD' for a better quality version!)

After creating this small 13 second animation I think I've re-built my passion for Animation (well After Effects) so I might, just might try and work on a new animation I have been thinking of!

I'll keep you updated If it does materialise!

ALSO! i have been ill (and I still am ill!! :( ) so i haven't been doing my Hands Research! But I will continue this once i feel better!

I also got these great books:
  • The Art of Finding Nemo
  • Animal Anatomy
  • How to Draw Hands and Feet
  • Human Anatomy
The Finding Nemo one being the most interesting, just because of the wide selection of concepts/illustrations as well as amazingly colourful paintings.

I also REALLY want to get 'The Art of Kung Fu Panda' because some of the art in that book looks stunning! (Though amazon is selling it for £60 - £200 and thats faaar too expensive for me!)

Here is the link if you are interested...

Hands Week 1

So this week i have mainly been drawing hands and having hands on my mind constantly! Haha.

Here are some of which i have drawn so far. My plan (hopefully) is to keep on drawing hands until i reach a stage of which I'm happy to move on to full body expressions (with the use of hands ofcourse)

I do realise that the first load look pretty terrible but hopefully my skills will improve through the weeks!...

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I recently purchased this game (on friday) and have just completed it! I can easily say that this is the best looking game I have ever played! The graphics are just phenomenal! from epic landscapes to the smallest details.

The story is very much inspired by Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones in the way of searching for a rare item (for this instance the Gintomani Stone) and to find this object Nathan Drake (the main character) is sent on a epic adventure, areas ranging from a destroyed city to a train shoot out.

The cinematics are also truely amazing and very close to that of big budge film productions, the voice actors are spot on and instantly draw you into their world.

Another area i am amazed by is the quality level of the animations even when you control the character he feels real, he has faults (trips over, accidentally slides and sometimes does a bad jump) just in terms of animation its far far beyond any game i have ever played.

If you own a PS3 and haven't got this game then GET IT because to me this is the best game on PS3!

Hands Research (Cartoons)

One of my main difficulties in drawing is in the structure of hands and how they should be used in a characters full body expression. I'm now going to explore the human hand, looking at all types of hand references such as cartoon, sketches, real life and 3D models.
(these are images found on the internet and not my own creation/drawings)

Amazing Stephen King Creatures

Movie Fun

Here is some interesting films which i have seen recently....

District 9

I saw this film a couple of weeks ago and really liked the concept of it. It was such a refreshing change for a sci-fi to be used as an iconic comparison to the world we live in today.

The director manages to make the audience actually care about his digital creations, which to me is a very impotant part of the film, towards the end of the film you start to hate the humans.

Another part i really liked was the character designing and the history of the world that the director has created. He's thought about everything; how they are born, what they like, how they socialize with others, how they manage to live in our world it really is interesting to take your mind off your normal life and get immersed in a great imaginary sci-fi.

I seriously hope they create a sequel! (District 10)

Also in the near future i hope he also actually creates and finishes the Halo movie...

The Mist

First of all, i have mixed feelings on this film... so i'll write the pros and cons.

Pros:
  • Loved the character designs! there are some really unique creatures in this film and i would love to buy a book based on Stephen Kings creatures... because both The Thing and Dreamcatcher have amazingly unique looking creatures in them.
  • I liked the depressing ending!
  • Good Atmosphere.
  • Nice Atmospheric Music

Cons:
  • Some parts were quite funny, especially when that man sets himself on fire! the stupid fool!
  • Some of the acting was pretty shoddy
  • Some of the actors were just plain STUPID, at countless times i was frustrated at the lack of common sense!

My next films to watch are:
Bolt and BASEket ball

New Post (at long last!)

Sorry for the long break from posting on the blog!

I have been busy recently, working on some artwork/animation for Victor Animation Studio. Here is a tiny illustration of a boat!:

This is an illustration which is for a boat/fish magazine, I only had less than half of a day working on it, hence the lack of detail.. but i kinda like the simple, graphic look.....I will try to keep you updated on what I'm doing (which is, at the moment, a title animation)

Every week i will be doing 'Research Painting' to hopefully better my skill as an artist... learning about lighting and colours... aswell as scale and proportions. This is the first one.. (Still work in progress ofcourse)

I notice there are quite a few areas not right or perfect, but hopefully through these weeks of painting i will have a better eye to spot the mistake much more quickly...
